The Sustainable Cities cluster shares knowledge and experience in the field of sustainable area development. It has devised a method of assessing the sustainability content of planning processes. The method offers a very practical means of assessing the sustainability of a spatial plan during a workshop attended by the various stakeholders.

Using the results of such a workshop, the planning process can be further refined in terms of the attention devoted to sustainability. The input of specialists from four countries – Denmark, Sweden, France and the Netherlands – ensures a fresh approach to the opportunities for sustainable plan development, as well as the possible restrictions.
