The safety and security of large and complex infrastructure and building projects demand an increasing knowledge-based engineering approach. By sharing the professional skills of the partners within SEEN in the fields of fire safety, tunnel-safety, security and external safety by spatial planning, we are able to deliver the best advices to our clients.

An example is the collaboration of Witteveen+Bos and NIRAS by the design of the emergency ventilation system for a new railway station and tunnel in the Dutch town of Delft. The expertise of Computational Fluid Dynamics-modelling of smoke and fumes was combined with the analyses for crowd-management and evacuation and provided an integrated safety approach for the station as ‘Safe Haven’.
